In March of 2002 I made a trip to the Phoenix area to watch the SF Giants Spring Training. In between games I was able to check out some of the local air museums. The Champlin Air Museum is located at Falcon Field in Mesa Arizona. If you plan to visit, make sure to allow at least 2 hours to visit the collection. Unfortunalty the main aircraft I wanted to see, the FW-190D was in pieces in the restoration shop, and only viewable through a small window. However there were a number of other impressive aircraft on site. The collection was recently purchased by the Museum of Flight, and plans are to relocate the collection in late 2003.
