I started building models at about the age of 7, and have building ever since. These days most of the models I build for myself are strictly out of the box. There is a good reason for this. I spend my weekdays scratchbuilding (if you want to call it that) models for a living.
I've been working as a professionall modelmaker for over 7 years now. My profession grew out of a love of my hobby. Originally I wanted to be a special effects modeler. However I quickly learned that it was long hours, sporadic work, and average pay. So I became a industrial model maker. 90% of the models I make are of consumer electronic devices. They are either made by hand, or programmed using CAD/CAM software and machined on a CNC mill, using a variety of materials such as Acrylic, ABS, Polycarbonate, Renshape, Foam, and other model making materials.
